Eureka Mignon Zero: Single Dosing Specialist

The Eureka Mignon Zero from the Florentine grinder manufacturer Eureka is a coffee grinder specially designed for single dosing, which is suitable for both espresso and filter coffee. Single dosing refers to the individual grinding of coffee beans. The alternative workflow has established itself among home baristas in recent years. Unlike the conventional approach, with single dosing the amount of beans required for the desired preparation is first weighed. These beans are then completely ground. With single dosing, the coffee beans are not stored in a large container in the grinder, but are optimally packed in an airtight and aromatically fresh way. In addition to the freshness of the coffee or espresso beans, single dosing is very low-waste. Because there are never more coffee beans ground than needed. This means that no leftovers from the mill have to be disposed of. Changes in the degree of grinding are also shown directly, since no material to be ground from the last grinding cycle is mixed in. For Eureka, almost a matter of course, the degree of grinding can be infinitely and precisely adjusted.

Features oriented to the workflow

In order to operate sensible single dosing, a coffee grinder should meet one criterion above all: minimal dead space. Dead space is the amount of ground coffee that remains inside a coffee grinder (in the grinding chamber, in the chute or in other spaces). The smaller the dead space, the more suitable the grinder is for complete grinding and the less a grind is contaminated by old coffee grounds. You might have guessed: The zero in the name of the Eureka Mignon Zero refers to this very dead space – it is virtually zero. In order to achieve this, an accordion-like collar is installed under the lid of the filling funnel, so that the mill is blown out by repeatedly pressing the lid and even the smallest residues leave the mill. The stainless steel dosing cup supplied is also particularly practical for the workflow. After the beans have been weighed in this, it can be hung where other models from the Mignon series have a portafilter hanger. After the grinding process, the cup is ideal for pouring the ground coffee into the portafilter or coffee filter.

The somewhat different Eureka Mignon

The linear design of the housing immediately reveals that this coffee grinder is a Eureka Mignon. Unlike its siblings, the Eureka Zero with the bean funnel and dosing cup has more rounded shapes. The chrome also knows how to please. A powerful 310 watt motor inside, which drives the 55 mm large grinding discs made of hardened steel at 1350 revolutions per minute, ensures proper performance. For all its power, the Mignon Zero is surprisingly quiet thanks to Eureka's Silent Technology.
