The incomparable blends are the result of the compositions of Arabica or Robusta beans. Special features of the beans are skilfully combined to create a perfectly balanced coffee with great taste, aroma and body.
From a small shop to a major roasting company
Luigi Lavazza founded the company back in 1895 in Turin. Initially, a small shop sold goods that were either produced on the spot or processed there: Soap, spirits, oil, spices and, of course, coffee. By 1900, Luigi Lavazza was already employing six people and running a wholesale business outside the customs border. Driven by curiosity and a particular interest in scientific matters, Luigi became increasingly involved in the product that fascinated him most: coffee.
Today, Lavazza is one of the most important roasters in the world, with years of hard work, passion and tradition. The idea of the perfect blend, made from the best varieties in the world, has remained. Many different balanced blends have been created over time. Only careful harvesting, processing, blending and roasting produced the excellent compositions that delight many palates today. Meanwhile, the assortment includes a variety of enjoyable blends for every taste.

Developing the highest quality
At Lavazza, quality is not "controlled", but "created". Every day, the employees are committed to the perfect enjoyment. Lavazza owes its consistently high quality to this simple maxim. The high quality awareness of products and processes is reflected in the areas of activity that make up Lavazza. These include, of course, a passion for coffee, its home country of Italy and Turin, environmental awareness and an awareness of ethics and transparency, research and innovation, art, design and architecture. Lavazza is committed not only to the responsible and sustainable treatment of its employees, but also to the improvement of living conditions in the coffee-growing areas. The most important project - which is still active today - is called ¡Tierra!
Lavazza in space
On 03 May 2015, Lavazza moved into the upper spheres. Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti became the first person in space to enjoy fresh espresso. The espresso was prepared with the ISSpresso machine, the first space-qualified espresso machine.
