BUY TEE BOXES AT AROMATICO
If you are not yet a barista in the preparation of their coffee, this may yet become in the future. Since home machines are usually not used as much as hospitality machines and therefore produce less coffee residue, a brew drawer is not needed and for many a knock-off box is sufficient. A portafilter knock-off box is used for storing the coffee grounds, also called coffee puck. The coffee puck can be easily tapped into this knock-off box after the extraction phase.
THESE ARE THE ADVANTAGES THAT SPEAK IN FAVOR OF AN ESPRESSO KNOCK-OFF BOX:
The knock-off box ("knockbox") represents a miniature-sized waste garbage can that collects the daily coffee grounds and only needs to be emptied at the end of the day. This means you don't have to run across the entire kitchen to the organic waste garbage can after each brewing process on the portafilter machine to dispose of the leftovers with the hot, possibly still slightly dripping portafilter. So your kitchen stays clean as well as tidy and you save yourself pointless ways. The various tee boxes can be purchased in different materials, whether you prefer wood, hard plastic or stainless steel. Some of the boxes are also equipped with a rubber coating, for example, a rubberized tee rod protects the material of your portafilter and the tapping can be done very quietly. A rubber coating on the underside of the knock-off box ensures that it does not slip and at the same time provides a firm stand.
In addition, a knock-off box is probably the easiest way to remove the coffee puck. Since most knock-off boxes are quite small, they take up little space in the kitchen and are quick and easy to clean. So, an espresso knock-off container is a wonderful alternative to a brew drawer if you don't want your portafilter to sit on top of the brew drawer. Along with things like a tamper and a base for the tamper, a tee box is consequently one of the most important tools for a home barista.
WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A TEE BOX
A tee box not only has the task of storing the coffee puck, it should also be very quiet and easy to use. At Aromatico, we have Joe Frex knock-off boxes, Motta knock-off boxes as well as ECM knock-off boxes in our assortment, among others. The heavier the portafilter knock-off box, the higher quality it is. A good damping of the bottom of the box should be mandatory, so that the noise is not transferred to the countertop or tabletop, but dampens it much more. Most importantly, however, is a high-quality rubberized tapping rod, which is thus particularly quiet and but also easy to remove and clean. This means you can prepare an espresso in the morning without worrying that all the housemates will be awakened by the tapping of the coffee puck. In particular, cleaning the dem tapping rod is an important point that you should not neglect. This is because it can happen that the coffee grounds residues get stuck on the tapping rod and after some time they start to mold.
