WHAT COFFEE CERTIFICATIONS ARE THERE?
The food world is full of them: the seals and certifications. Even on coffee packaging or in coffee shops, you can often see a variety of seals on the products. But which seals are official certifications, what benefits do they bring, and what should you look for when buying certified coffee beans. To give you a transparency of all the important seals of espresso beans, we show you which are the most important!
BUY FAIRTRADE ESPRESSO: THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR!
The Fairtrade seal is a symbol for fair trade. This means the payment of fair prices, this minimum price coffee producers or small farmers can receive for the specific products. In order for espresso beans to receive this Fairtrade certification, certain social, ecological and economic criteria must be met. These include, for example, regulated working conditions, prohibition of child labor or exploitation and the protection of natural resources. Only when all criteria and requirements are met along the entire value chain, a Fairtrade organization can mark the espresso with an official Fairtrade logo.
The aim of the Fairtrade coffee seal is to create a bridge between producers and consumers. To establish a long-term and fair trade relationship and at the same time to establish a biologically sustainable coffee cultivation with an accompanying increase in quality. A fair payment for the coffee producers for a better living and working situation in the growing areas.
