FILTER COFFEE MAKER: AN UNCOMPLICATED WAY TO PREPARE COFFEE

PREPARATION STEP BY STEP

Almost every German household and office has a filter coffee maker that is in daily use. It brews even large quantities of aromatic coffee in just a few minutes and is completely uncomplicated to operate. A particularly popular type of filter machine is the Mokkamaster. Many experts consider the Moccamaster to be the best filter coffee maker in terms of aroma and taste. This branded product from the Dutch manufacturer scores with its powerful heating element, which is made of copper. The water, brought to the optimal brewing temperature between 92 and 96 °C, is transferred without heat loss and flows through a passage with nine holes onto the coffee powder. The automatic drip stop contributes to the comfortable handling of the Moccamaster coffee machines, as does the mixing filter of the glass jug. Coffee preparation is the same as with a conventional filter coffee machine, except for a few special features:

INSTRUCTION: PREPARATION FILTER COFFEE

It is best to grind the beans for your filter coffee machine yourself with an electric or manual grinder that has a disc or cone grinder. Alternatively, there are also filter machines with a grinder.

Measure out the appropriate amount of coffee. The rule of thumb is about 10 g per cup. Of course, you can vary the amount of coffee to suit your taste if you prefer your coffee stronger or weaker.

Place a suitable paper filter in the filter holder and fill in the ground coffee. Make sure that it forms an even flat surface.

Fill the water tank with fresh and cold tap water. If the drinking water in your region has a high degree of hardness, use a water filter or a particularly low-calcium table water.

Turn on the filter coffee maker and wait only a few minutes until the coffee is completely through. Due to the mixing filter, stirring the finished coffee is not necessary. The Moccamaster switches off automatically after 40 minutes.

GENERAL

The filter coffee maker has enjoyed great popularity since its invention in the mid-19th century. It allows you to prepare delicious coffee in a particularly uncomplicated way. What's more, a traditional coffee maker, where the water runs through a filter bag, allows you to make coffee in a more environmentally friendly way and at a better value for money than a capsule machine.

IN ITALIA / ALL‘ITALIANA

While filter coffee machines were largely unknown in Italy until a few years ago, they now have a small but growing fan community. In the meantime, renowned Italian manufacturers of fully and semi-automatic coffee machines, such as the well-known De'Longhi label, have also included coffee machines with filters in their product range.

TIPPS

You can prepare coffee in an even more environmentally friendly and economical way if you choose a machine with a permanent filter. These models save you from having to buy filter bags. You can use the coffee grounds as ecologically valuable plant fertilizer. In order to prepare a highly aromatic coffee with your machine, the selection of the coffee type is of great importance. Spicy coffees or coffees with pronounced fruity notes are highly recommended, for example.
