Harmonic Trio
Coffee Circle's Karibu coffee is a blend of roasted coffee beans from three different origins. The coffee beans from Brazil, Kenya and Ethiopia result in a medium roast at a final temperature of 212 degrees Celsius, resulting in a harmonious taste that is reminiscent of dark chocolate and cinnamon. The decisive factor is the sweetness of the Ethiopian coffee beans in combination with the spicy notes of the Brazilian coffee. There are also subtle fruity notes from the Kenyan beans on the finish. Overall, the coffee tastes pleasantly intense.
The origin of the coffee beans
The name derives from the expression "Karibu", which means "Welcome" in Swahili, based on Coffee Circle's trading relationships with farmers from Kenya. The coffee beans used from Kenya come from the Thirika cooperative in Kiambu, where several thousand farmers plant various Arabica varieties at an altitude of 1800 meters and wet process the harvested coffee cherries. Coffee Circle obtains the Brazilian component of the Karibu from the small cooperative APAS from Mantiqueira de Minas. The green coffee used comes from Ethiopia from the Geta Bore cooperative in the region around Agaro in the west of the country.
Coffee Circle demonstrates a high level of social awareness. In addition to the comparatively high purchase prices that the farmers receive in direct trade, the Berliners invest 1 € per kilogram of coffee sold in social projects in coffee regions in Africa and South America.
