Single Dosing: A Smart Workflow
The Mignon Zero Brew from the grinder manufacturer Eureka from Florence was specially designed for the method of grinding coffee in individual portions, the so-called single dosing. This puristic approach has a number of advantages over the classic process, in which a larger supply of beans is stored in the coffee grinder. First of all, single dosing offers a significant advantage in terms of freshness, since the coffee beans can be stored in a more suitable, ideally airtight, container. In addition, less coffee is wasted with single dosing because there is no need to throw away old and excess coffee grounds. Single dosing is also recommended for all those who want to switch flexibly between types of preparation and types of coffee. Because the grinder is completely empty at the beginning of a grinding process, no degrees of grinding and types of coffee mix, so that the purest result can be achieved.
No dead space and grinder for filter coffee
In order to be really suitable for single dosing, a coffee grinder must meet one condition above all: its dead space should be virtually zero. The dead space of a coffee grinder (retention in English) indicates how much of the coffee to be ground remains inside the grinder. The Mignon Zero Brew does not bear its name for nothing - it retains almost no coffee grounds. To achieve this, the Eureka Mignon Zero Brew is smartly designed. An elastic collar connects the lid to the hopper. With this so-called blow-up system, the last bit of ground coffee can be blown out by repeatedly pressing the lid. The desired portion can be weighed before grinding in the stainless steel cup supplied, which holds up to approx. 45 grams of coffee beans. During the grinding process, it is placed in a suitable suspension under the ejector. The Zero Brew's 55 mm disc grinder is specially designed for filter coffee. The special cut ensures that the composition of the ground coffee contains a particularly low proportion of very fine particles (also called fines). While such particles can be useful for classic espresso, they tend to cloud the taste of filter coffee, French press, aeropress and the like. The Mignon Zero Brew thus ensures a particularly clear and differentiated taste profile that inspires filter coffee fans.
Angular meets round
Two design and form languages meet in the Mignon Zero Brew. While the angular housing makes it clear that the Zero Brew belongs to the Mignon family, the grinder sets itself apart from its sisters with the round shapes of the filling funnel and the dosing cup. With the chrome housing, the Eureka Mignon Zero Brew is a real eye-catcher. It is powered by a 310 watt motor and 1350 revolutions per minute. Like most mignons, this one is surprisingly quiet thanks to its silent technology.
