Eureka Mignon Zero Brew: Specialized in Single Dosing
The Mignon Zero Brew from the Italian grinder manufacturer Eureka is a coffee grinder designed for grinding filter coffee in individual portions, so-called single dosing. While conventional on-demand grinders always wait for their next use with a full bean container, with single dosing only as many coffee beans are thrown in as are required for the desired preparation. This way, the coffee beans can be stored in a more suitable, ideally airtight container. In addition to freshness, single dosing offers the advantage that no coffee is wasted, as the coffee grinder is always completely ground and the ground coffee is used fresh. Single dosing is ideal for anyone who wants to switch flexibly between different types of preparation or grinding degrees, or who likes to use different types and roasts of coffee. Since no old ground coffee is left in the grinder, only the desired coffee comes out with the selected degree of grinding.
Zero retention and special finish
So that all the advantages of the single-dosing workflow can be used, a coffee grinder must meet one criterion above all: the dead space (retention) must be as small as possible. In the case of coffee grinders, dead space means how much ground coffee remains inside the grinder during grinding. It is not for nothing that the Eureka Mignon Zero Brew has the zero in its name - because very little ground coffee gets stuck in it. To accomplish this, the Mignon Zero Brew relies on the so-called blow-up system. An accordion-like collar ensures that the hopper lid can be used like a bellows to blow any residue out of the grinder. The supplied dosing cup is perfect for weighing up to approx. 45 grams of coffee beans, pouring them into the grinder and then collecting them in the ground state. To do this, it is simply fixed in the appropriate suspension under the ejector. In contrast to most grinders from Eureka's Mignon series, the 55 millimeter disc grinder of the Mignon Zero Brew is specially designed for filter coffee. The special cut ensures that when the coffee beans are ground, a smaller proportion of very fine particles (also called fines) are produced. While fines can be an advantage with classic espresso, they tend to cloud the taste of filter coffee, French press, aeropress and the like. The Mignon Zero Brew is therefore the perfect grinder for all fans of filter coffee who appreciate a particularly differentiated and transparent taste profile.
High contrast design
Like all grinders from Eureka's Mignon series, the Zero Brew is characterized by its angular housing. In contrast to the classic on-demand variants, however, the linear design language meets a round filling funnel and the round dosing cup, which dynamically breaks up the appearance. The Zero Brew 16 CR is designed in high-contrast matt black not only in shape, but also in its coloring and texture. The combination of the mostly matt black housing with the chrome elements and the stainless steel cup is impressive. The motor with an output of 310 watts and a brisk 1350 revolutions per minute ensures plenty of grinding power. Nevertheless, the Mignon Zero Brew is surprisingly quiet thanks to the Silent technology.
