THE SPECIALTY COFFEE ASSOCIATION PROMOTES THE COFFEE WORLD
THE SCA STRIVES FOR GREATER SUSTAINABILITY
The SCA's goal is to make coffee better, create professional networks and promote knowledge sharing. Together with its members, it aims to make the coffee industry more sustainable and inclusive.
The SCA also hosts coffee championships that take place in seven different disciplines: Barista, Latte Art, Brewers Cup, Cuptasting, Roasting, Coffee in Good Spirits and Cezve/ Ibrik. The national winners are then eligible to represent Germany at the World Championship.
The German SCA Roasting Championship took place in the year 2022 between May 13 - 15 in Münster. The venue was the roestbar campus.
André Kirberg won the roasting category and will represent Germany at the SCA World Coffee Roasters Championship in Milan.
COFFEE OF THE SCA CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH A GOOD CAUSE
On 14.05.2022, from the ten participants of the roasting championship, the MEISTERCHAFTSKAFFEE was roasted. The coffee is not sorted by participants or places, so each package is a little surprise. Not only the filter coffee convinces with its great flavors of caramel, cocoa and malt. 100% of the proceeds are donated to a good cause.
LIGHT BEAM UGANDA
SCA Germany's focus is clearly on making really good coffee and improving the coffee industry. However, there is a much more profound, fulfilling purpose behind the sale of the 2022 championship coffee! All profits from the sale will be donated to the Lichstrahl Uganda e.V. association. The association supports and promotes Uganda with the goal of more self-help and more independence. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world and was exposed to human rights violations, severe military conflicts and economic problems for decades. These are also still relevant today, in addition to climate change, which in a few years will mean that it will no longer be possible to grow coffee in Uganda.
So with the purchase of a championship coffee, the coffee moment becomes a good deed!
