E.S.E PAD MACHINE: FOR FAST AND CONVENIENT ENJOYMENT
PREPARATION STEP BY STEP
Operating an E.S.E. pad machine is easy and an ideal alternative to the Nespresso® capsule machine. The ideal amount of coffee and the degree of grinding are already given by the individual position system of the pods. Many of the E.S.E. pods have a tab for easy insertion and removal from the pad machine. The individual packaging also guarantees aroma and freshness. Furthermore, there is a special sieve for portafilter machines, which can be inserted for E.S.E. pads.

INSTRUCTIONS: E.S.E PADS PREPARATION
Step 1: Switch on the pad machine
Turn on the E.S.E. pad machine or portafilter machine. The E.S.E. espresso machine contains an extraction chamber with a specially designed geometric shape. The quality of the cup of espresso is optimized by perfectly adapting to the shape of the portion. The basic technical parameters of the machine (such as the temperature and pressure of the water used) are sized to produce a high quality espresso.
Step 2: Fill water tank
Fill the water tank with fresh tap water.
Step 3: Select E.S.E Pad
Select an E.S.E. pad. The pods consist of 7 grams of ground coffee and a brewing pressure from about 9 bars. The wrapping of the coffee powder consists of 0.2 grams of biodegradable filter paper. The filter paper is specially made for food use. The area of the espresso pads filled with coffee powder has a diameter of 44 mm. The outer diameter is between 55 mm and 58 mm.
Step 4: Place pad in portafilter
For E.S.E. pad machines, insert the pad. For portafilter machines, please insert the E.S.E. pad screen into the portafilter.

GENERAL
E.S.E. stands for Easy Serving Espresso. It is an open standard system for espresso pods that was specially developed for espresso machines with portafilters. Open means that roasters and machine manufacturers can participate in the system and use the pods for themselves. Thus, the pads from different roasters can be used for the same machine. All that is needed is an insert screen for E.S.E. pads for the portafilter. In the E.S.E. pods, the ground espresso powder is pressed in portions between two layers of filter paper. This wrapping of the coffee powder made of filter paper is biodegradable. Note: The E.S.E. pods are only suitable for corresponding machines.
IN ITALIA / ALL'ITALIANA
In Italy, the pads are called "Cialde". They were invented by the company illy Caffè in the 70s.
