The capsules contain about 7 g of ground coffee, which is filled in portions. The material of the capsules keeps the coffee fresh. During the brewing process, the capsule machine presses hot water into the capsule at high pressure. If the pressure is enormous enough, the membrane on the underside of the capsule can no longer withstand it and breaks away. The espresso then flows through the perforated membrane and the holes in the pyramid plate into the cup. This process produces a dense crema. The production of espresso, caffè crema, latte macchiato or other delicacies is thus successful for everyone.
