Comandante hand mill improved version

The latest version of the C40 comes with some innovations and is in no way inferior to the previous version. The grinding of top-quality coffee is very easy by hand, thanks to the very precise Comandante®Nitro Blade® grinder made of special steel, which sits on two ball bearings in the food-safe stainless-steel housing. MK3 becomes MK4! In the new version, the suspension of the upper bearing axis has been revised: it is now even more robust and has been shaped in such a way that no beans can block the insertion of the crank. In addition, the material of one of the enclosed grist containers has been adjusted, it consists of extremely unbreakable plastic.

Adjustment of the degree of grinding with the click system

The adjustment of the degree of grinding works with the C40 MK4, just like with older generations of the C40, via the click system. The nut that connects the grinding cone to the axle engages twelve times per rotation. By counting these clicks, starting from the closed state of the grinder, each degree of grinding can be set precisely and found again later. The indication of "comandante clicks" is widespread to communicate grinding degrees in recipes and preparation recommendations. In general, the following clicks are recommended for the different brewing methods:

• 8 clicks = Cezve/ Ibrik
• 8 - 15 clicks = espresso
• 13 - 16 clicks = Mokapot/ Bialetti
• 17 - 19 clicks = Aeropress
• 20 - 25 clicks = hand filter (V60, Chemex)
• 20 - 28 clicks = French Press
