About the origin
The Mamma by Kaffeesack is a single-origin roasted coffee made from 100 % Arabica coffee beans. The beans used come from Peru, more precisely from the village of Miguel Grau in the Chanchamayo region, northeast of Lima. The name Mamma is based on the deity Pachamama, who embodies Mother Earth for indigenous peoples from the Andes. At an impressive 1,500 meters above sea level, around 50 farmers in a cooperative plant the Arabica varieties Caturra and Catuai in Miguel Grau. The fact that the bushes grow particularly slowly gives the coffee cherries a lot of time to develop their aromas. After the harvest between June and August, the coffee cherries are processed wet and then dried in the sun.
Black Forest roasting craft
After arriving in Germany, the Peruvian coffee beans are roasted in the Kaffeesack roastery in the Black Forest. The aim of roasting is to achieve a good balance between acidity, sweetness and bitterness so that notes of origin and toasted notes are balanced. In the cup, mom proves that the experts at Kaffeesack have mastered their craft. The coffee tastes mild and presents chocolaty aromas with notes of almond and apricot. In the pre-ground version, the coffee is best suited for preparation in the filter coffee machine or as a hand infusion. Try it yourself!
