For the Intenso, the Mauro roastery uses 30% Arabica beans and 70% Robusta beans. The Arabica portion of the mixture comes from Brazilian cultivation areas. The Robusta beans come from growing areas in South America and Africa, including Uganda and Cameroon. The espresso lives up to its name "Intenso", which is due to the high proportion of Robusta beans on the one hand and the dark degree of roasting on the other.
High caffeine content
After careful selection, the beans for the Intenso are gently roasted. This results in an intense taste experience, which is accompanied by a fine fruity note. Tobacco notes are noticeable in the finish. Typical of the high proportion of Robusta is a pronounced crema, which also makes the Intenso a good basis for coffee specialties with milk. In addition, the caffeine content specified by Mauro as 2% is largely due to the Robusta beans. This is how the espresso provides the necessary caffeine kick when you want it.
