ROASTING TRADITION FROM THE CASTELLI ROMANI
In 1895 Azeglio Martella was born in Marino. In the early 1940s, Azeglio Martella opened a drugstore selling food products in the Castelli Romani. The Castelli Romani comprise 16 municipalities in the Italian region of Lazio. About 20 kilometers outside Rome is the current recreational area. Charming landscapes and gastronomic specialties characterize this area. The Martella family and its businesses provided a livelihood for many families during the years of post-war reconstruction. In recognition of its social and civic commitment, in 1958 the President of the Italian Republic awarded Caffè Martella the highly prestigious title: "Cavaliere della Stella al merito del lavoro". Today Caffè Martella is managed by the third generation. Azeglio Martella passed on his knowledge and passion to his sons David and Christian.
